Game Analysis : Jewels Legend

IAMGAMEDEVELOPER - Jewels Legend is action match-3 puzzle game for Android platform developed by ITREEGAMER. The game is so addictive for me personally, the first time I played, I was amazed with the hexagonal form, I mean it’s unique one. Literally, the name ‘Jewels Legend’ is okay for me, although I am still wondering where ‘Legend’ comes from. Besides hexagonal thing, I also like the music very well, basically I love music, especially jazz, but the choice of music, for this kind of game, it’s enjoyable and not disturbing.

Another thing that I like is the visual effect, especially the lightning and explosion effects, they are looked pretty cool just the way they are. In addition, the variation of levels in this game is quite challenging, it has different form in every level, and has some components which make the game more challenging and fun, such as the ice and chained jewels.

One bug that I found, maybe it’s not a bug, but for some people, it is a bug, and it’s minor. It happens when player turns the phone off while the game still runs, and when the phone is turned on again, it will be back in the lock mode, but the music is already playing, it should be not. Another thing, it’s about art concept and story, the art is great for me personally, but again, there is no story, I need story, even simple one, but well, maybe only me that want it, so, just forget it.

Jewels Legend is a time killer game, I always play it during my sparetime or while waiting for a bus to pick me up. Anyway, for me ITREEGAMER has made an evolution in mobile game platform, especially Android (since I only have Android). I also played the other game by this company, Jewels Star, and it’s also addicitive for me. But the point is not me myself, it’s about others who also play game of ITREEGAMER, how do I know? No, I didn’t see their device screen, I just heard the sound effect, it’s very easy to be realized (Crink..Crink..), and I heard it multiple times in one day. And you know what? That sound stimulates me to grab my phone, open the app, and play those games, Damn It! For me, it’s a pleasure to know other game developers can reach this area, it is good for them, but concurrently it motivates me to develop better games.

  1. where did the music come from in the arcade version? Was it created specifically for this game or is it off some soundtrack or something
